Landmark is a large-scale modern toile in cadet blue and grey on off-white, inspired by an antique scenic wallpaper. Hillside villas and sailboats on the waterfront evoke the Tuscan countryside. It invites you to linger over the details.

The color is tested to hold up to 1,000+ hours of light. Spills bead up on the surface (we water-test every outdoor fabric before we list it). Thibaut notes that everyday stains like coffee and red wine come out with mild soap and water, which is reassuring given the off-white background. At 63,000 double rubs—more than double the 30,000 we look for in everyday sofa throw pillows—these durable designer throw pillow covers are made for daily use.

Where we use it: Many scenic toiles are delicate decorator fabrics best kept to formal living rooms and occasional spaces like guest bedrooms. Our Landmark toile throw pillow gives you that same storybook look in a durable, tapestry-weight woven fabric you can live with every day—as a sofa accent pillow in your family room, sunroom, or screened porch.

Where we’d hesitate: A home with multiple cats, or any cat that scratches a lot. Double rubs measure resistance to friction, not claws, and even a performance fabric with a tapestry weave has surface threads that can catch a claw. For a scratch-resistant throw pillow, we’d steer you toward a tightly woven flat weave—Get in Touch and we’ll suggest one.

How to pair it: To style a cohesive look, order a pair of these statement throw pillows and balance them with blue and grey solids or tweeds in lush performance textures like chenille and bouclé.

Sizing: We place each cut by hand to capture a well-composed vignette from this large-scale design, such as villas along the hillside or sailboats on the water. To keep key details of the scene visible, we don’t recommend going smaller than our 14x20-inch lumbar pillow or 18x18-inch square pillow sizes. Larger custom sizes, from extra-long lumbar pillows to Euro shams, are possible while our limited fabric yardage lasts.

Ordering multiple pillow covers? Order them all at once so we can cut them from the same bolt and avoid slight color differences between dye lots.

Each Melissa Creech Designs throw pillow cover is made-to-order in our Greensboro studio. Because these are established designs, most pillow covers are ready in 1-3 weeks, depending on order volume and fabric availability.  When you Customize Our Pillow Designs, your semi-custom throw pillows will typically be ready in 2-4 weeks from when the design modifications are approved.

Each Melissa Creech Designs throw pillow cover is handcrafted and made-to-order for you, so we don’t accept returns, exchanges, or cancellations. Fabric swatches allow you to evaluate color, texture, and quality in your actual lighting with your décor and furniture.

  • • When possible, swatches are available by mail (nominal fee applies).

  • • Swatches are not available for limited availability fabrics and special-order fabrics. Additionally, some materials cannot be sampled if we only have minimal yardage remaining.

  • • When swatches aren’t available, we provide alternatives like color matching to Sherwin-Williams paint colors. See our FAQs for details.
