About Melissa Creech Designs | Custom Pillow Maker & Fabric Consultant
Melissa Creech Designs
is Greensboro’s Custom Throw Pillow Maker
& Fabric Strategist
We help you balance aesthetics with practical durability and functionality—matching fabric and design decisions to your space and how you actually live
Our knowledge comes from 20+ years sourcing, evaluating, designing, and handcrafting thousands of custom throw pillows and other home furnishings for real homes with real families. We know what fabrics work where and why—we’ve seen the same materials at purchase, during fabrication, and years later when clients return for new throw pillows, bedding, window treatments, or seat cushions. With the right fabric, you’ll be ready for a change and new look before your fabric is.
We combine real-world insight and hands-on fabrication experience with economics-trained fabric evaluation, so decisions aren’t made in isolation the way they are when stores sell, designers select, workrooms fabricate.
Every throw pillow is individually handcrafted and made-to-order in our Greensboro, NC studio. Browse our online designer throw pillow cover collection or shop our entire throw pillow and fabric collection in person at our Greensboro studio—including designer prints, luxury embroidered linens, lush chenilles and velvets, Crypton performance fabrics, and indoor-outdoor options in Sunbrella and Thibaut InsideOut. Shopping in-studio, you’ll see throw pillow covers not yet listed online or available elsewhere.
Purchase our throw pillows and pillow covers exactly as shown or Customize Our Pillow Designs by incorporating different fabric or finishing details. Or have us make custom throw pillows using your fabric or ours.
What We Make:
- • Throw pillows—Euro shams, lumbar pillows, bolster pillows, outdoor throw pillows
- • Custom bedding—duvet covers, bed skirts, bed runners
- • Window treatments—curtains, valances, cornices, faux Roman shades
- • Seat cushions (indoor and outdoor)—dining chair, bench, and banquette cushions
Whether you bring your own fabric for Customer’s Own Material (COM) evaluation, choose from our in-studio fabric collection, or have us source materials for you, we assess every fabric’s suitability for your intended use. We guide you to what works best for your lifestyle, durability needs, and design vision—not just what looks good on day one.
We ship custom throw pillows and smaller handcrafted home furnishings nationwide; larger pieces and window treatments are available for NC Triad clients only.

Skip the guesswork of shopping and planning alone. A complimentary Personal Shopping Appointment or Discovery Meeting gets you into our Greensboro studio to browse handcrafted throw pillows, colorful throw blankets, trims, and our full home décor fabric collection. Personal Shopping Appointments focus on finding and combining what’s already available in-studio. Discovery Meetings combine in-studio exploration with project planning—working through a specific space or design challenge. Either way, you’re getting Melissa’s full attention and 20+ years of fabric expertise to evaluate fabric suitability for your space and intended use, not just access to inventory.
Pattern scale, color balance, durability, performance features, and all the design details matter—and they’re easier to work through in person, with someone who can tell you what suits your space.

Live Outside the NC Triad Area? Shop, Explore, Plan—with Us Remotely
Looking for someone to make custom throw pillows with your fabric or help you choose the right fabric?
We now serve individual clients and design professionals nationwide—virtual fabric consultation, Customer's Own Material (COM) evaluation, and custom throw pillows made with your fabric or ours shipped anywhere in the U.S.
Distance doesn’t compromise our collaborative process—it just changes how we work together. We serve clients nationwide with the same fabric expertise and full attention we give local clients—evaluating suitability for your space and intended use, wherever you live.
Working together starts with a conversation, not a shipment. An initial video or phone consultation covers your project, lifestyle needs, and fabric options—including virtual access to our full in-studio designer fabric and custom throw pillow cover collection. Our optional Digital Mock-ups then show fabric and throw pillow combinations in photos of your actual space, so you can choose with confidence from anywhere.
Want to feel fabric texture and see true color before you decide? We send fabric swatches by mail (nominal fee applies), and for larger projects or distinctive patterns, we recommend a sample yard over a swatch alone. When swatches aren’t available, we offer color-matching guidance instead.
Supplying your own fabric or trim? With our Customer’s Own Material (COM) service, you never just ship fabric and hope for the best. We review your materials holistically—with preliminary assessment before you ship them and thorough evaluation after they arrive in our studio.
→ Before shipping fabric to us, check your materials first with our Fabric Quality Evaluation Cheat Sheet.

Intentional Design That Starts with What You Have & How You Actually Live
There's no one-size-fits-all formula—we use a thoughtful, collected-over-time approach. Every conversation begins by understanding your space, your lifestyle, and what actually needs to change and what doesn't. We practice conscious consumption and slow decorating—investing in fewer, higher-quality pieces that create a cohesive, curated look that's authentically yours. Whether we're selecting materials together, evaluating what you bring us, or handling everything from sourcing to fabrication, every recommendation is guided by aesthetics, grounded in performance.
