Greensboro's custom pillow maker and fabric consultant—handcrafted throw pillows with your fabric or ours. Designer decorative throw pillows, performance fabrics, indoor-outdoor pillows. Fabric evaluation and pillow design expertise. Serving NC Triad locally and custom pillow projects nationwide.
Made-to-Order designer throw pillows, Euro shams, pillow shams, lumbar pillows, and bolster pillows
Most pillow and fabric decisions happen in isolation—stores sell, designers select, workrooms sew. Want to see what happens when all that works together?
We're Greensboro's custom pillow maker and fabric strategist. We source, evaluate, design, AND handcraft with every fabric we recommend, which means we understand what fabrics work where and why—from 20+ years of making
custom decorative throw pillows that perform beautifully in real homes with
real families.
What Makes Our Design Approach to Making Throw Pillows Different:
Consultation Over Order-Taking
Whether you have fabric you love and want transformed into pillows, need guidance choosing from our extensive in-studio fabric collection, or aren't sure yet what you need—we start with strategic questions that lead to better results. We don't just make what you ask for—we ask:
- • Where will these pillows live?
- • How often will they be used?
- • Who uses the space?
- • What colors, patterns, and textures already exist in the room in furniture, window treatments, artwork, and rugs?
The answers to these questions change everything about what we propose. The details drive completely different recommendations for fabric, pillow sizing and finishing details, and pillow insert types.
Our fabric strategy is based on real-world performance, not just aesthetic selection, and is informed by 20+ years of designing and making custom home furnishings. In addition to making thousands of pillows, our experience in fabricating bedding, window treatments, and seat cushions provides invaluable insights in fabric quality evaluation—from hand-feel to weight, drape, and durability—and matching fabric capabilities to intended use.
Whether you need pillows that can handle daily family life and high-traffic use or want to test fabric choices before committing to larger projects, we help you move from what initially appeals to what is best for this specific application—creating results that provide just what you need to make a room look finished while still being a comfortable space to relax.

Why Fabric Selection Matters for Custom &
Made-to-Order Throw Pillows
What is Fabric Strategy vs. Fabric Selection?
Fabric selection—choosing from readily available options based on cost, aesthetics, and perhaps functionality—is how many people approach choosing fabric for custom pillows.
Fabric strategy—what we do—is different. We evaluate ALL fabric characteristics (hand-feel, fiber content, weight, drape, durability, performance features) and match fabric suitability to your needs, lifestyle, and intended use. Fabric strategy focuses on not just what we're making, but how you'll actually use it.
Our Fabric Strategy: Personalized Selection for Your Needs
We guide you to what materials are right for your needs: performance fabrics for active households with kids and pets, indoor-outdoor fabrics that handle sun-drenched spaces and outdoor living, high-end materials for luxury throw pillows and statement lumbar or bolster pillows, or your own vintage textiles for one-of-a-kind pieces.
Designer Fabric Access: Our in-studio fabric collection features luxury brands and iconic designers like Schumacher and Brunschwig & Fils, Crypton performance fabrics, and Sunbrella and Thibaut InsideOut indoor-outdoor lines, plus popular options from Covington, Fabricut, Hamilton, Kravet, Magnolia, P/Kaufmann, Regal, Stout, and Waverly.
Our connections throughout nearby High Point—home to the world's largest furniture market—and trusted online resources expand access further, giving you access to high-end designer fabrics and trims typically available only to trade professionals.
How Our Pillow Making Process Works
Your intended use and location drive our pillow fabric recommendations.
- • Outdoor pillows and pillows in sunrooms or near south/west facing windows need UV protection for fade-resistance.
Indoor-outdoor fabrics are made specifically for locations with strong sun exposure. Read PRO TIP for our answer to what’s the best outdoor fabric for your project.
- • Great room sectional pillows
where kids and pets play and lounge require different stain-resistance, care
requirements, and durability (higher double rub counts) than formal living room accent pillows. Washable or spot-cleanable performance fabrics are best for high-traffic family spaces, while dry clean or vacuum/brush only materials suit light-use furniture and less frequently used rooms.
- • Breakfast nook and banquette
pillows remain stylish and stain-free with daily use when performance and/or indoor-outdoor fabrics with 30,000+ double rubs are utilized.
We know which attractive materials fail in high-traffic applications and which fabrics maintain their plush hand-feel and sophisticated style regardless of daily use or direct sun exposure. This knowledge ensures you'll enjoy your pillows for years to come and only need to change them out when you're ready to introduce new colors or patterns.
PRO TIP: Not all performance and outdoor
materials are created equally. Look for "fiber-level treatment" since it permanently integrates properties (like color, stain-resistance, and/or fade-resistance) into the fiber's polymer structure during manufacturing.
Unlike topical coatings, fiber-level treatment does not wear or wash off.
Crypton, Crypton Outdoor, Sunbrella and Thibaut InsideOut use fiber-level
treatment. Solution dying is a type of fiber-level treatment and acrylic is the
most durable outdoor fabric—solution dyed acrylic fabrics are the best choice
for pillows and upholstery where strong sun exposure is an issue.
Our pattern placement and fabric yield optimization ensure you get the appropriate number and size of pillows for your space without sacrificing visual appeal. Whether we're working with your materials, remnants, designer fabric from our in-studio collection, or materials we recommend or source for you, we have the same goal for every project maximize both aesthetic impact and real-world performance.
Need additional materials or complementary trims? We can supplement any materials you already have through our in-studio fabric
collection and/or trade-level sourcing connections, providing seamless
coordination across your entire pillow grouping.
Already have some pillows you love? We assess how new pillows can coordinate with your current pillows and décor, pulling colors from artwork or rugs, and building intentional arrangements that pull the whole room together rather than competing with pillows, furniture or other décor elements.

How to Arrange Throw Pillows: Best Sizes &
How Many to Use
Determining
Pillow Quantity & Sizing
- • How many and what size pillows to use on a sofa?
- • What are the best pillow sizes for sectionals and how do you arrange pillows on a sectional?
- • What size pillow is best in accent chairs like barrel back and small swivel chairs?
- • How many pillows on a king bed—3 Euros + 2 king shams + lumbar or bolster pillow?
We determine appropriate pillow sizes, quantities, fabric mix, and arrangement—including corner placement for L-shaped and U-shaped sectionals—based on furniture scale, décor, and how your space is used.
Our 20+ years of building pillow arrangements means we know what
pillow combinations look attractive, add tactile interest, and provide comfort and support without overwhelming seating or requiring too many pillows to realistically move daily when making the bed.
Also see: Pillow Sizing &
Arrangement Guides | Pillow Styling Blog Posts | Digital Mock-ups
We don't just make individual pillows—we build mix and match pillow groupings. Whether you need:
- • 3-pillow or 5-pillow combinations for a sofa, or 5-7 pillow arrangements for sectionals with proper corner placement
- • Layered king bed pillow arrangements—from minimalist 3-pillow setups to luxe 9-pillow hotel-style looks
- • Coordinated outdoor pillow groupings for front porch benches, poolside chaises, and screened porch sofas and chairs
We understand the pillow quantity, size / shape, pattern proportions, color balance, and texture mixing that creates stylish, intentional looks rather than random collections. See our Pillow Sizing & Arrangement Guides for go-to advice tailored to your specific furniture—from small loveseats to oversized sectionals, twin beds to king-size beds.
Our guides include sizing for square, lumbar, and bolster pillows plus detailed arrangement options. We pair this advice with blog posts showing pillow grouping diagrams—from simple, uncluttered looks to plush arrangements that layer color, pattern, and texture.
Whether you follow the 60-30-10 rule (60% solids, 30% medium patterns, 10% bold prints) or prefer a different balance, we advise you choose combinations that personalize your room and express your authentic style. When mixing and matching patterns, vary the scale. Textured materials add interest without competing with patterned prints. Join Our Insider List to never miss a new guide launch or blog post.
Custom Throw Pillow Sizes & Style Options
Pillow Shape & Size Selection
The right pillow shapes and sizes transform the visual balance and comfort level of any given space. Our 20+ years of building well-planned artful pillow arrangements means we know what pillow sizes are best for sofas and other furniture based on furniture scale and room proportions.
- • Square pillows in any size you need offer unlimited versatility. Our most popular 20x20 inch size is the best pillow size for most sofas, chairs, and beds, while 22x22 inch pillows deliver even more generous comfort and that coveted high-end designer look.
- • Euro pillows are typically used as large decorative pillows for beds—one for twin, two for full/queen, three for king—with or without traditional shams. 24x24 and 26x26 inch Euros are also appropriate for today's oversized sofas and sectionals.
- • Lumbar pillows provide both back support and sophisticated styling. Our go-to 14x20 inch size is a great lumbar pillow size for sofas, chairs, and beds—fitting most furniture scales while adding visual interest without overwhelming the space. Extra-long lumbar pillows on beds, benches,
wide sofas, and settees are statement-making pieces.
- • Bolster pillows for beds, benches, and seating areas add structural dimension whether used as designer accents or for lounging.
Tailored sizing and shapes can accommodate unique furniture and specific creative visions. Professional measuring is available for unusual shapes or very specific sizing needs through our In-Home Measuring & Design Service.
All pillow shapes are available in standard or made-to-order sizes to fit your specific needs.
Sumptuously plump pillow inserts provide that sought-after high-end designer appearance, hold the iconic karate chop, and allow you to sink into them while still feeling supported. We typically recommend inserts that are 2 to 4 inches larger than the pillow cover—see our Pillow Insert Sizing Guide. Along with our distinctive fabric collection, we keep a
generous supply of inserts of varying sizes and fill types in our Greensboro
studio so you can test the comfort and support of each type.
Wondering what's the best throw pillow insert material? It depends on use. Your pillow's intended function and where it will be used drives pillow insert decisions.
- • Frequently utilized throw pillows often need firmer inserts to maximize comfort and minimize frequent fluffing, while designer accent pillows that are rarely used can use softer, plusher fills.
- • Outdoor pillows require inserts with non-woven polyester covers with synthetic filler.
- • Pillow shams and decorative throw pillows in guest bedrooms and spaces where guests with allergies spend time benefit from synthetic down alternative hypoallergenic inserts.
- • Euros on oversized sofas and sectionals often need more supportive inserts than Euro shams on a king bed, unless you like to read in bed.
Not sure what’s the best throw pillow insert type for your needs? We stock feather down, synthetic down alternative, poly-fiber, and outdoor inserts in our studio so you can feel the difference before choosing—learn about our favorite pillow inserts and when should you use
feather down inserts vs. down alternative inserts in our Pillow Insert Type
Guide.
What to Look for in
Custom Throw Pillows:
Types of Pillow Edges and Trims
Finishing details affect how your pillows look and how long they last. All pillows include serged interior seams and invisible zippers (unless specifically requested otherwise).
- • Knife edge provides a clean, simple edge without decorative elements—no cording, piping, or trim
- • Self-cording creates clean, tailored lines in the same material as your pillow—coordinating seamlessly with any décor.
- • Contrasting cording highlights your favorite colors and matches your décor elements while adding polished definition.
- • ¼" flange details provide structure and shaping without traditional formality—ideal for when you want the effects of cording without introducing additional colors, patterns, or fuss.
- • Boxed corners are another way to provide structure and enhanced shaping.
- • Decorative tape trim offers numerous opportunities with gorgeous trim varieties and placement possibilities that create truly distinctive results.
Also see: Customize Our Pillow Designs | How-to Guides
Your pillow's intended function drives design and construction decisions.
- • Frequently utilized den throw pillows often benefit from fewer added trims and embellishments than luxury throw pillows or (more formal) living room decorative accent pillows that are rarely used. This maximizes comfort and minimizes the possibility of damage to more intricate and/or
delicate trims that are not intended for everyday use in high-traffic areas.
- • Many pillows benefit from ¼ inch flanges or cording to provide enhanced structure and shape definition. While cording provides similar benefits plus the opportunity to incorporate complementary colors / patterns / textures.
- • Outdoor pillows require weather-resistant construction details to reduce the likelihood of dirt and moisture getting trapped and promoting mold and mildew.
Unless specifically requested otherwise, all of our pillows have serged interior seams and easy-care invisible zippers so covers can be removed for spot treatment or effortless seasonal cover swaps. We match design and construction techniques to real-world use, ensuring visual appeal, practical functionality, and longevity.
Need More Fabric Selection Guidance?
If you're planning updates in adjoining rooms, adding seasonal variations in main living spaces, or need performance fabric expertise for challenging applications, our fabric strategy ensures well-suited material selections before you invest in custom home furnishings.
→ Our Fabric Consultation: Selection, Sourcing & Strategy provides in-studio and trade-level fabric access for projects
requiring fabric and trim coordination and/or sourcing, performance
recommendations, and strategic guidance—whether you're local to the NC Triad and need options beyond our in-studio collection, or you're remote and need virtual consultation support.
Whether you've found fabric you love, have leftover yardage from another project, or want to transform something with sentimental value into something you can enjoy every day—fabric suitability for your intended use is the first question we address.
Beyond consideration of how a fabric blends with your décor (color, pattern, scale, texture, and style), overall suitability for your intended use comes down to hand-feel, weight, drape, durability, and performance features.
Not every fabric is suitable for pillows, and not all pillows have the same material requirements—fabric for a designer statement bolster pillow or long lumbar pillow on a guest bed is very different from sofa throw pillow fabric that will be used daily by everyone (including kids and pets).
Evaluating whether a fabric is appropriate for pillows involves more than it might seem at first glance. Fabric evaluation includes:
- • Checking quality indicators using a host of visual and tactile inspection methods
- • Recognizing natural characteristics vs. true flaws and damage
- • Reviewing manufacturer’s technical specifications—from fiber content and weight to double rubs counts
- • Understanding performance capabilities (stain-resistant, fade-resistant, etc.)
- • Considering how pattern repeat, pattern orientation, and nap direction impact yardage requirements
- • Determining yardage sufficiency
The need for fabric quality evaluation, determining suitability, and usable yardage, is essential for materials of all quality levels—first-quality yardage, remnants, and seconds. It may seem obvious with remnants (where yardage is limited and quality can be first- or second-quality) and seconds (where flaws range from barely noticeable to unworkable). However, the same is also essential with first-quality designer fabrics since they can have imperfections that were missed during quality control or have damage from transit.
INSIDER TIP: Most custom-cut yardage is final sale unless it's sold as first-quality and turns out to be flawed or is damaged in shipping, and retailers only accept returns or exchanges when fabric is unmarked and uncut. Remnants and seconds are typically sold "as-is" and returns are possible only for shipping damage occurring after purchase.
Not sure where to start—or want professional eyes on your fabric? → Bring or send your fabrics and we'll assess them for you. Local clients can bring materials for a complimentary quick evaluation during a Discovery
Meeting. Remote clients receive preliminary assessment guidance before shipping. Schedule Discovery Meeting | Get in Touch
Already have materials you love and want transformed into custom pillows with your fabric? Whether you need pillows and inserts, or just custom pillow covers, we handle both. This is called Customer's Own Material (COM) or Bring Your Own Fabric (BYOF) in the design industry. Simply bring your fabric, trim and/or pillow inserts you want to use and we’ll evaluate your materials holistically.
- • Not sure what’s possible with what you have? We’ll evaluate performance suitability for your intended use, check yardage, and determine what pillow options deliver the best results for
your needs.
- • Have fabric remnants from another project or designer remnant finds? Bring them—we'll evaluate what's possible with the yardage you have.
- • Found fabric you love but need coordinating materials? Browse our extensive in-studio collection and if you don’t see just what you need, we can source any additional coordinating materials.
- • Want to repurpose sentimental items? We’re experienced in transforming treasured materials into pillows you'll enjoy for years.
- • Want to use pillow inserts you
already have? We’ll check remaining lifespan and sizing, and suggest other pillow insert types or sizes when needed.*
We handle: Fabric assessment, artful pattern placement, performance evaluation, and coordinating complementary materials and pillow inserts when needed.
*In our Greensboro studio, we keep a stock of 95 / 5 Feather Down Inserts and Synthetic Down Alternative Pillow Inserts (aka faux down, microfiber down alternative or micro denier) that are sumptuously plump and hold the iconic karate chop look beautifully. We also have poly-fill pillow inserts and outdoor pillow
inserts, and can source any size and fill type needed.
→ See our Pillow Sizing &
Arrangement Guides as well as
our Pillow Insert Sizing and Pillow Insert Type Guide.
PRO TIP: Always verify your purchases for accuracy, quality, and suitability for your intended use. Many fabricators scan fabric and trim quickly for major issues but may not catch if the wrong colorway, pattern, or yardage was shipped to you. When providing your own fabrics and trims—Customer's Own Material (COM)—material inspection is your responsibility.
When you work with our Customer's Own Material pillow services, we conduct our own thorough assessment once materials arrive in our studio—giving you professional evaluation in addition to your own inspection.

How Much Do
Custom Throw Pillows Cost
How to Maximize Design Impact and Long-Term Value
Our economics-trained thinking helps with determining how much to spend on home décor and how to allocate home décor spending—understanding where to invest in custom throw pillows and high-end fabrics for best results and where accessible options deliver similar decorative effect. Whether you're getting the most out of a limited budget or ready to invest in high-end statement materials, we walk you through decisions that deliver long-term value.
Long-Term Value: Cost-Per-Year Thinking
Handcrafted custom pillows typically last 8-10 years with proper care and quality inserts, while mass-produced alternatives need replacing every 2-3 years. This enables you to evaluate true cost-per-year value, directing your budget where it delivers the greatest long-term results.
For example, a $150 performance fabric pillow that lasts 8+ years without fading or showing wear costs less annually than a $60 pillow that needs replacing every 2 years. This math changes everything about how you evaluate pillow purchases.
How to Maximize Designer Fabric: Strategic Use for Pillow Fronts, Backs & Cording
We can extend high-end fabrics by planning carefully how we use them in custom pillow covers—featuring luxury materials on pillow fronts while selecting more accessible coordinating options like linens or velvets for pillow backs and cording. This delivers the captivating qualities of designer materials where you see them most while managing overall investment.
Luxury materials are also ideal for lumbar pillows—the rectangular shape often requires less yardage while providing distinctive looks and versatile arrangement opportunities.
How to Make Custom Throw Pillows with Your Own Fabric: Customer’s Own Material (COM) Service
Using fabric you already have—whether luxury fabric you purchased during a sale, designer remnants you found online, leftovers from drapery or upholstery you want to repurpose, or vintage material you inherited—often delivers significant cost savings compared to buying new high-end yardage at full retail. But economics is only part of the story.
This creates a curated, collected-over-time aesthetic that reflects your authentic style—looks lived-in and feels personal rather than purchased all at once. Combining fabric from various sources and repurposing materials from other projects results in decorative accent pillows that become the focal point of your space. Intentionally designing pillows that you love and will last aligns with conscious consumption and slow decorating principles. It's quality over quantity in action: investing in fewer, higher-quality pieces made for longevity rather than replacing items season after season.

Why Choose Our Custom Throw Pillow Service?
Here's what clients and interior designers say about working with us:
“I learned more in a few minutes with Melissa than I did searching for fabric online for hours. Melissa explained why certain fabrics wouldn’t work for pillows on my high-traffic sofa and what fabric I should use. Her understanding of fabric and my needs saved me from a costly mistake—pillows that would need replacing within a year.”
— Greensboro client with high-traffic family room
"I wanted pillows that could handle my active family but didn't want them to look utilitarian. Melissa showed me Crypton performance chenilles and indoor-outdoor fabrics—Sunbrella and Thibaut InsideOut—that are sophisticated enough for my great room but stain-resistant and more durable than regular decorator fabric. Two years later with three kids and a dog, the pillows still look brand new."
— Client with young family using indoor-outdoor fabric on sofa pillows
"I've worked with several pillow makers and Melissa is the only one who actively problem-solves—showing me how pillow sizing and strategic pattern placement can maximize yardage with high-end fabrics. She doesn't just execute orders; she asks 'how can we improve this design?' That collaborative approach helps me deliver better results at better prices for my clients."

FAQ
You're in the right place. We're a custom pillow maker serving clients locally in Greensboro and the NC Triad as well as nationwide.
Getting started is straightforward:
- • If you're local to the NC Triad schedule a Discovery Meeting to explore fabric options and discuss your project in person.
- • If you're beyond the NC Triad, Get in Touch and we'll walk you through our remote collaboration process. We work with clients nationwide through virtual consultation, and our optional Digital Mock-ups can create digital mockups of fabrics and pillows in photos of
your space for confident decision-making before ordering.
Whether you have fabric you want made into pillows or need help selecting materials, we handle both the fabric evaluation and the fabrication. Request Quote
Yes—with our fabric-first focus, choosing the right fabric for pillows is not something you have to do all on your own.
We walk you through fabric selection based on where your pillows will live, who uses the space, and how the material needs to perform. Our 20+ years of real-world experience means we know what materials handle daily life with kids and pets, what fabrics fade in strong sun, and what designer fabrics will still look great years from now.
Local to NC Triad:
Start with our complimentary Discovery Meeting where you can see, feel, and coordinate fabrics in person with hands-on support.
Beyond NC Triad or need extensive sourcing:
Our Fabric Consultation: Selection, Sourcing & Strategy provides in-studio as well as trade-level fabric access and strategic direction including performance recommendations. This service is available whether we're making your custom pillows, or if you just need help selecting fabric and fabrication will be handled elsewhere.
For quick questions regarding help choosing fabric remotely Get in Touch.
For expert fabric consultation and sourcing assistance use our Fabric Consultation: Selection, Sourcing & Strategy which is available whether we're making your custom pillows (and other soft home furnishings), or if you just need fabric selection and fabrication will be handled elsewhere.
Remote clients receive the same focused collaboration through detailed communication and virtual guidance. We discuss your project needs, lifestyle requirements, and current décor, then suggest fabrics from our collection or source materials through our trade-level connections.
Fabric swatches allow you to evaluate color, texture, and quality in your actual lighting with your décor and furniture.
- • When possible, swatches are available by mail (nominal fee applies).
- • Swatches are not available for limited availability fabrics and special-order fabrics. Additionally, some materials
cannot be sampled if we only have minimal yardage remaining.
- • When swatches aren't available, we provide alternatives like color matching to Sherwin-Williams paint colors.
Ordering swatches solves the issue of not being able to see or touch the fabric in person and ensures color accuracy and texture suitability. For sizeable projects, high-end fabric purchases, or selections that have large pattern repeats or distinctive colors and textures, we encourage remote clients or anyone shopping for fabric online to consider purchasing a sample yard to really get a sense of the material before ordering full yardage or beginning fabrication.
Our optional Digital Mock-ups can show fabric selections and pillow arrangements in photos of your actual space for confident decision-making before ordering.
We start with our extensive in-studio fabric collection where you can see, feel, and coordinate materials in person during your Discovery Meeting. For example, if you need pillows for a sectional, we might
suggest a large-scale print for visual impact, a coordinating smaller-scale
print for balance, and a textured option for depth—all based on your existing décor and current lifestyle needs.
For clients needing options beyond our collection, we provide access to High Point resources and trade-level suppliers. Our fabric strategy ensures selections work with your décor, lifestyle, and budget.
Remote clients receive the same collaborative focused assistance through detailed communication and virtual guidance.

Beyond NC Triad or need extensive sourcing?
Our Fabric Consultation: Selection, Sourcing & Strategy which provides in-studio as well as trade-level fabric access and strategic direction including performance recommendations. This service is available whether we're making your custom pillows, or if you just need help selecting fabric and fabrication will be handled elsewhere.
We evaluate every fabric for suitability based on your specific use—considering hand-feel, fiber content, weight, drape, durability (double rub counts), performance features, and how pattern repeat and orientation impact yardage requirements.
Our Fabric Consultation: Selection, Sourcing & Strategy walks you through what to look for when evaluating fabric on your own.
For local clients, our Discovery Meeting provides hands-on exploration where you can see and feel quality differences between fabrics in person. If you have your own materials, bring them to our studio and we’ll assess any fabric, trim, and/or inserts you already have for suitability for your intended use—Customer’s Own Material (COM) evaluation.
For remote clients, we provide preliminary assessment guidance before you ship materials to us and thorough evaluation once they arrive in our studio.
Yes, we always encourage getting fabric swatches whenever possible. Swatches let you see color, texture, and quality in your actual lighting with your furniture and décor before committing to an order. Live with them for a bit, observe swatches at different times of the day and from different angles.
For sizeable projects or materials that are high-end, have large pattern repeats, or distinctive colors and textures, we advise purchasing a yard of fabric. This gives you a better sense of scale, drape, and how the material will look in your space—enabling you to identify potential issues like scale problems, color clashes, or style mismatches before full yardage is ordered or production begins.
Swatches are available for most fabrics (nominal fee applies) and can be ordered online or requested during our one-on-one time. Swatches aren't available for limited-availability fabrics, special-order materials, or when we have minimal yardage remaining. When swatches aren't
possible, we provide color-matching alternatives.
We assess all materials for care requirements and performance needs based on your intended use and location.
If your fabric isn't well-suited for pillows, we'll explain why and suggest alternative uses that capture the same aesthetic—perhaps framed artwork for delicate textiles or seat cushions for heavy upholstery fabrics where that durability truly matters.
For remote clients, we provide preliminary Customer’s Own Material (COM) assessment before shipping and thorough evaluation once materials arrive in our studio.
This is one of our specialties. Bring photos, fabric and trim samples, or color references (paint chips work well) and we'll suggest the best decorative pillows to tie your room together—fabrics and arrangements that enhance what you already have rather than starting over completely. Our fabric strategy often saves money while creating more cohesive, intentional looks that feel collected over time rather than purchased all at once.
Our lead time is typically 1-3 weeks and fluctuates with order volume. Most made-to-order pillows take 2-4 weeks from final approval to completion—for example, a three-pillow or five-pillow combination typically takes 2-3 weeks. Customer's Own Material (COM) projects and projects requiring sourced materials begin timing once we receive everything in our studio.
Rush Services: Available when our schedule permits.
Yes. We sell high-quality inserts that hold the iconic karate chop and provide pillow insert sizing tips to achieve that plump, designer look.
Our advice varies based on where and how your pillows will be used: hypoallergenic synthetic down alternatives for guest rooms, shared living spaces, or anyone preferring non-feather options; luxurious feather down for most indoor applications; and weather-resistant inserts with non-woven polyester covers for outdoor applications.
You can purchase our preferred inserts through us (online or in-studio) or source them yourself. If you're providing your own inserts, we prefer having them in-studio to assess suitability and sizing—especially important for unique dimensions or inserts you want to continue using where we need to evaluate remaining lifespan.
